"Get over dammit!" _________ yelled.

Dean swerved over and barely made the exit.

"I barely know you, don't tell me what to do," Dean growled.

"Shut up," she snarled. Dean huffed.

"You two are like children," Sam sighed.

"Thanks for your help and all, but I don't need you guys," ________ said dryly. She closed her eyes before opening the door and rolling out onto the side of the road. She grabbed her bloodied shoulder and stood up. She wobbled along the white line.

"Dean, stop the fucking car!" Sam shouted.

"She don't need us," Dean said, running a hand through his hair. He glanced back through the rearview mirror. "See, she's walking."

"What if your door gets taken off?" Sam asked quietly.

Dean slammed the brakes. "Sam, get out, close my damn door, make sure princess is alright and get back in. We have a motel to be at."

The dark road was lit up only by the Impala's lights and the stars.

"You okay?" Sam asked, eying _______'s torn up shoulder.

"I'm fine, but thank you." Sam caught her eye and looked up as lightening cracked across the sky.

"Come on, I'll drive. Please come with us. It's always nice to have another hunter and Cas likes you."

"The angel?" she asked incredulously.

"Yeah."

They stood in the dark, listening as the rain began to hit the cracked asphalt.

"You need a home."

And _________ felt those warm hot tears roll down her cheeks, glad it was raining to hide them. Sam wrapped his arms around her and pulled her close.

The younger Winchester knew when a person was crying, even in the rain and the dark. He took her hand and led her back to the car.

Dean snapped at him when Sam told him to get out of the drivers seat.

________ and Castiel rode in the back again. Sam slammed his hand on the volume button and the sound of torrential rain filled their ears. Dean fell asleep in the passenger seat.

Castiel stared at _______, even after she noticed. She smiled slightly. Even though her eyes were still glossy with tears and a bit puffy, he thought she was the most beautiful thing.

"What is wrong?" he asked.

"I... Nothing," she replied, closing her eyes to keep the searing tears in. Castiel looked into her mind.

"You suffer. You have a need for a place with a family and permanence. You need a person to hold onto." He squinted at her. "You are alone."

"Shut up," she whispered, feeling her throat tighten.

Castiel reached out and held his hand to her wounded shoulder. His touch burned at first, but eventually numbed and cooled pleasantly. She reached up to her shoulder and took his hand. She brushed her lips against his fingers. "Thank you," she said politely.

Castiel had nothing to say.
